NEO GROUP is one of Europe’s leading producers of PET resins and polyols, operating a high-volume manufacturing facility in Klaipėda, Lithuania. Known for its commitment to sustainability and circular production, the company has invested in a wide range of clean energy technologies. Termolink, a Lithuanian EPC firm specializing in energy integration, led the design and installation of the waste heat recovery system at NEO GROUP’s plant in close partnership with Climeon.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As part of its long-term energy and climate strategy, NEO GROUP sought new ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce reliance on purchased electricity. The plant’s resin production process—where ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid are combined—generates excess steam and low-temperature heat that previously went unused. NEO GROUP identified Climeon’s ORC technology as a solution to recover this waste heat and turn it into sustainable electricity, supporting the company’s operational and environmental goals. The presence of an existing steam condenser and cooling towers made the integration more cost-efficient by allowing the system to be tied into infrastructure already in place.

OUR SOLUTION

Climeon delivered and supported the integration of its HeatPower 300 system at the site, working closely with Termolink and NEO GROUP throughout the project. The system captures low-temperature waste heat and repurposes it to generate approximately 2,700 MWh of sustainable electricity annually. This output contributes to avoiding an estimated 320 tons of CO₂ emissions each year and enhances NEO GROUP’s energy resilience—while reinforcing its position as a leader in industrial sustainability. In addition to environmental benefits, the installation is expected to deliver annual electricity cost savings of €250,000 to €300,000. The system also offers the potential for increased power output in the future, should NEO GROUP choose to expand heat input into the circuit—adding flexibility to its long-term energy strategy.
