About Greentech in Shipping
The mindset of sustainability and efficiency is the key to unlocking successful business formula in the maritime industry. Upcoming years will bring the time to meet new regulations and the question is whether the industry is there yet. Has enough been done to create a sustainable shipping market? Which latest green technologies can contribute best to achieving the determined goals? Which fuels should the sector turn to, in order to drive the most effective economic and environmental outcome? There are numerous issues that call for decisions and collaborative thinking, therefore, events like GreenTech in Shipping contribute to the sector by providing an opportunity for all stakeholders to meet and discuss industry outlook, look for ways to cooperate and find solutions to most urgent issues as well as exchange good practices.
Climeon at GreenTech in Shipping 2019
Carl Berglund and Zvonko Ikic are excited to attend the GreenTech in Shipping Global Forum 2019 in Hamburg, Germany.
"This is a perfect audience to collect a broader view on the perceived challenges and opportunities that future regulations will bring. Events like these tend to have more personalized touch where it’s easier to have more in depth discussions. Especially since we want to collect feedback on a new business model, “Electricity as a Service”, that we’ll be presenting on stage".

2020 is less than one year away
How will you comply with the Sulphur cap? We’re turning waste heat from ship engines into clean electricity. Ship owners like Virgin Voyages, Viking Line and Maersk have already recognized the advantages of Climeon Heat Power.
By saving fuel and reducing emissions, together we can make the cruise industry more sustainable.
Ever since the IMO’s confirmation that the Sulphur Cap will be enforced as of January 1st 2020, speculation on alternative fuels has ramped up. Especially since the IMO raised the bar with an even more ambitious goal to reduce 50% of CO2 emissions by 2050. As the industry continues to search for the “holy grail” fuel, they face more short-term challenges with the upcoming Sulphur Cap, forcing shipowners to look at fuel-saving alternatives to avoid negative financial impact.

Increase efficiency
Energy efficiency is crucial for ship owners to save money, even more when the fuel prices are hard to predict. With clean electricity from Climeon Heat Power, a cruise ship can cover around 20% of the hotel load. It works for both new build and retrofit installations and is applicable for all fuel types.
“The best way of doing good…is if you can do it in a way that actually saves you money”
- Richard Branson, Virgin Voyages
Environment
Increase genset efficiency by lowering fuel cost and reducing the amount of Sulfur and CO₂ emitted.
Short payback time
Leading payback time enabled by the world’s most efficient low temperature system.
Easy integration
Plug and play design allows for fast and easy integration with plants existing systems with limited disruption.
Viking Line
Viking Line became a customer in 2014. Climeon's Heat Power system can be found on their environmentally friendly passenger ferry - Viking Grace. In 2015, Viking Line announced to expand their cooperation with Climeon. The system will be deployed on all new ships, and an evaluation for retrofit on existing ships has been initiated.
